Osmo Pocket 3: Buttons and Touchscreen Guide

Everything You Need to Know to Navigate Like a Pro

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is powerful, portable, and packed with intuitive controls—both physical and on-screen. Here’s a quick-start guide to help you get familiar with all the buttons, swipes, and shortcuts so you can film with confidence from day one.

🔘 Powering On and Off

  • To turn on: Rotate the screen clockwise — the camera powers on instantly.
  • To power down: Rotate the screen back — it shuts off automatically when idle.
  • To switch to Portrait Mode: Rotate the screen counterclockwise and you’ll be prompted to touch Portrait to change modes before powering down. If you don't tap it in time, don't worry! Just turn it back on and repeat the process.


🖐 Touchscreen Navigation


Once powered on, your touch screen becomes the control hub. Here’s what each swipe does:

  • Swipe Down – Access the Control Center (general device settings)
  • Swipe Up – Adjust shooting parameters like resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio
  • Swipe Left – Enter Pro Mode for advanced image, audio, and exposure controls
  • Swipe Right – View footage playback


🎥 On-Screen Buttons and Shortcuts

  • Zoom In/Out – Tap the arrow icons next to the zoom indicator
  • Switch Shooting Modes – Tap the bottom-left icon to toggle between video, photo, timelapse, and more
  • Flip the Gimbal – Tap the bottom-right icon to rotate the camera view
  • Focus and Track:
  • Tap once to focus and meter
  • Tap twice on your subject to activate ActiveTrack
  • Tap again or press the joystick to stop tracking


🕹️ Physical Buttons: Joystick + Record


The 5D joystick and record button offer hands-on control:

  • Record Button:
  • Press once to start/stop recording
  • Hold for one second to power off
  • Joystick:
  • Press once to disable ActiveTrack
  • Press twice to recenter the gimbal
  • Press three times to flip the gimbal for selfie mode
  • Move it to tilt and pan by default

💡 Want to use the joystick for zoom instead? Tap the slider on the right edge of the screen to toggle between gimbal control and zoom control.

  • Top Left: Remaining recording time on your SD card
  • Top Right: Battery life remaining


🛠 Reset to Default Settings


To reset your Osmo Pocket 3 for the next user:

  1. Tap the video icon
  2. Scroll across to C1
  3. Tap to reset all settings
